Hanggang Sa Muli

Mula ng sumali sa mga patakbo
Ikaw na ang madalas na kasa-kasama ko

CONDURA RUN 2009 (1st 21K)

Ilang giyera na ang ating nilabanan
At ni minsan di mo ako iniwan

Nagalusan, napunit, nasugatan
Hinintay maghilom para muling makasama sa bugbugan

MILO MARATHON 2009 (1st 42K)

Basketball shorts na ginawang Running shorts (Since 2009)

02.05.2012 - Condura Skyway Marathon 2012

The only race that gives you the chance to run in the Skyway is back!

And this time we're running for the Mangroves!

An excerpt taken from their official website (http://www.conduraskywaymarathon.com)

True to the Condura Skyway Marathon tradition of introducing new and exciting things each year, we came up with 5 thrills and chills on Year 5 –

  1. RUN FOR THE MANGROVES. The Condura Skyway Marathon recognizes the vast benefits of mangroves in the improvement of the ecosystem and the protection of coastal communities. Every runner in the CSM gets to donate three (3) mangroves in the 10-hectare CSM Mangrove Forest in Sibugay Bay, Zamboanga.
  2. FIRST MIDNIGHT MARATHON IN THE COUNTRY. Raise the bar and brave new challenges by running the first midnight marathon in the country.
  3. RUN THE SKYWAY UP TO ALABANG! Run the full length of the Skyway and conquer 5 cities in 1 Go – Muntinlupa, Paranaque, Taguig, Pasay and Makati!
  4. NEW VENUE. Races happen too often mostly in the same old venues. The premier running event has found a new home in the South! Bask in the sights and sounds of vibrant Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
  5. ALL RACE CATEGORIES GO UP THE SKYWAY. In the past Condura runs, only those registered in the 10k, 16k, 21k and 42k got to run the Skyway. In 2012, the 3k and 5k runners get to join the lot in enjoying the elevated highway.

Condura 2011...Tough act to follow?

Less than a month to go before I position myself to the starting line of Condura Skyway Marathon 2011 at the BGC or Bonifacio Global City (The Fort). And I believe that this race will be a tough act to follow.

They've already set the bar literally high when they first included the SkyWay as part of the route during Condura 2009.

Take a peak on their Top 12 Reasons to Join as they upped it a notch higher once again this year.

And as if the info's on their website is not enough. They even emailed participants with links/instructions on how to use the D-tags.

If I may add, do not fold the D-tags as this will break the circuit making it unreadable. How do I know? Just trust me on this... Unless you don't mind not seeing your name on the finishers list.

Information overload? I'm not complaining.

*thanks to Julie aka The Hotlegs Runner for the free race kit!

It's going to be a crazy day...

I don't want to sound like a fortune-teller. But I think 05/10/2009 will be a crazy race day.

Have you seen the BOTAK PAA-TIBAYAN map? Specifically the routes for the 21k and 42k? Those are craaaaaaazzzzzyyyyyyy routes, man.

I hope that the race organizer has done their assignments real well. Marshalls should be well oriented. Water stops should be adequate & well manned. Medical facilities should be in place. Traffic should be, well... dealt with accordingly. Some people do work on a sunday. :)

And how about the weather? I don't know if "EMONG" has left the P.I., but this past weeks weather was craaaazzzzzyyyy. And according to CNN weather, it's going to rain tomorrow. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

And last... I read from more than a couple of running groups that they'll go renegade on this race. And they are inviting people to join them. Craaaaaazzzzzzzzyyyy....

What I fear here is the cut-off time for the 42k runners. I don't know if there was a discussion about it. Because in the Condura Run, this was cleared at least a week before the race. I think I see a lot of complaints after this race though. =(

Will I run tomorrow even if it rains? It's a YES!

Will I run on the said routes? Maybe... :)

Will I go bandit? Hmmnnnn......

Mission Accomplished... well almost...

It was a fun and festive mood earlier today at The Fort area. The Condura Run 09, Skyway Run For The Whale Sharks; conceptualized by the running Concepcion brothers Patrick and Ton (first name basis kami... close)

I have no target finishing time, since it was my first 21k race. I just want to have fun, run at the SkyWay and finish the race injury free.

I arrived early. I was there before 5:00am hoping to have time to warm-up. Before I was able to dress-up and check-in my bag, I went to the portalet to relieve myself.

As soon as I came out of the portalet, the Philippine National Anthem was being played. Ang sarap ng feeling, parang basketball championship.

10 mins before the race started, I again went to the portalet. Which was a good thing because I don't want to go and pee during the race. (conservative ako eh) =)

ganyan kahaba ang pila sa portalets

The race started at exactly 5:30am. Check the route below (Natz, I grabbed this from your blog. Thanks!... as if babasahin ni Natz blog ko.... hahahahaha)

si pojie, pao, red, chelly & tim...

just crossed ayala/buendia intersection
hanapin nyo yun bading... hint, hindi ito naka-itim. hehehe... joke lang

just entered the SkyWay minus the bading... joke ulit...

It was a nice feeling, when we reached the top of the SkyWay. Ibang klase ang high!

Skyway, going back to Buendia.

Office namin...

I also captured videos while running on the SkyWay. Inom muna kayo bonamine, baka biyahilo kayo.

After coming down from the SkyWay to Buendia, it was all business for me.

1K more before the finish line, I removed my earphones and tucked it in my singlet.
Then I started to pray. I prayed St. Benedict's prayer. For some reason, St. Benedict's prayer works for me. I already witnessed it's power. If you want to learn more about it, google it. ;)

Teka... tayo ka nga muna... lakad ka ng konti. Wala lang, baka nahilo ka sa video eh. Concern lang ako.

Okay ka na? Let's continue...

takbo rod... takbo!!!

o ha... gumagalaw no... thanks josiah for the pics!!!

When I crossed the finish line, the first thing that I wanted to do was sit down and not move for a while. I was planning to have the Condura shirt signed by the runners specially from the takbo.ph guys but I was so wasted. I wasn't even that active in the picture takings. *tissue please... nose-bleed*

Unofficialy, I finished the race in 2hr31min. We're still waiting for the official results. Update... official time is 2hr30min17secs!!! Pictures muna!!!

some of the takbo.ph peeps
thank you sa lahat ng orig na may-ari ng pics! i heart you all!!!

gradwit na ako!!! balik ulit sa 5k!!!
