My Running Resolution for 2012

Run More... Spend Less...

It's now or never.

02.05.2012 - Condura Skyway Marathon 2012

The only race that gives you the chance to run in the Skyway is back!

And this time we're running for the Mangroves!

An excerpt taken from their official website (

True to the Condura Skyway Marathon tradition of introducing new and exciting things each year, we came up with 5 thrills and chills on Year 5 –

  1. RUN FOR THE MANGROVES. The Condura Skyway Marathon recognizes the vast benefits of mangroves in the improvement of the ecosystem and the protection of coastal communities. Every runner in the CSM gets to donate three (3) mangroves in the 10-hectare CSM Mangrove Forest in Sibugay Bay, Zamboanga.
  2. FIRST MIDNIGHT MARATHON IN THE COUNTRY. Raise the bar and brave new challenges by running the first midnight marathon in the country.
  3. RUN THE SKYWAY UP TO ALABANG! Run the full length of the Skyway and conquer 5 cities in 1 Go – Muntinlupa, Paranaque, Taguig, Pasay and Makati!
  4. NEW VENUE. Races happen too often mostly in the same old venues. The premier running event has found a new home in the South! Bask in the sights and sounds of vibrant Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
  5. ALL RACE CATEGORIES GO UP THE SKYWAY. In the past Condura runs, only those registered in the 10k, 16k, 21k and 42k got to run the Skyway. In 2012, the 3k and 5k runners get to join the lot in enjoying the elevated highway.

01.15.12 - Go Natural 2012 (Singlets, Advocacy Shirt, 21K Finisher Shirt)

Start the year 2012 right with Runrio’s Go Natural on January 15, 2012 at the Bonifacio Global City. Run for the education about Diabetes at an early age.

Join Go Natural 2012 and run for a diabetes free future. Live healthy, Go Natural.

You can choose from any of the 4 color  design, regardless of the race category you'll join. Suggest ko lang that you get the size bigger from your usual singlet size. I usually get a size L for the singlets, but when I tried it out at home, medyo fit sya. So, I should have gotten a size XL. :p

You can avail this shirt when you donate Php150 on top of the registration fee in support of early child diabetes education. Pickup is on race day.

21K finishers will get this shirt. Again, finishers of 21K lang po. At walang medal itong race na ito.

I must admit, I've never worn a Skechers. I've always seen Skechers as a girly shoes. Case in point, my Nanay and my sister has many pairs of Skechers. From sandals to sneakers to boots to clogs...

But after reading an article that Meb Keflezighi (Elite runner and Olympic silver medalist) achieved a new personal best time of 2:09:13. And was the fastest American at the 2011 ING New York City Marathon, wearing SKECHERS GO Run racing footwear I'm having second thoughts...

    Meb Keflezighi, distance runner.
endorser of SKECHERS Fitness performance footwear

"It felt amazing to beat my previous personal best and 2009 winning time. It was an extremely challenging race with very fast and intense competition, and I am pleased with my achievement," began Keflezighi.

"I felt strong going into it, training at high altitudes in my SKECHERS GO Run racing shoes, which definitely made a positive impact on my running. I’ve been a heel strike runner my entire life, but SKECHERS’ mid-foot strike technology has helped me adjust my stride to be more efficient. My shoes are my most essential piece of equipment and right now SKECHERS has the footwear I need to succeed. I’m excited to be partnering with this groundbreaking company.”

from SKETCHERS GO Run press kit

SKECHERS GO Run is an innovative new minimalistic lightweight running line featuring revolutionary mid-foot strike technology and GO Impulse sensors for enhanced sensory feedback. The GO Run also has a SmartShoe curved bottom that promotes natural motion, proprietary Resalyte injection molded cushioning with memory retention, and an OrthoLite anti-microbial sockliner.

TReK - Trails to Empower Kids

Got this e-mail from my friend and co-Team Boring core Mark Fer Castillo.

It is for a worthy cause... let's extend our help this Christmas season...

    Dear Friends:

For the past four years, the generosity of our colleagues, family and friends have allowed our group, Trails to Empower Kids or TREK to successfully hold outreach activities to children in far-flung areas. We have delivered much needed-school supplies, books, reference materials, visual aids and even construction materials for comfort rooms and water system to schools located in the mountains of Itogon, Casiguran, Tanudan, Pudtol, Subic Town, San Luis, Kibungan and Dilasag.

As we celebrate our anniversary this December, we renew again our commitment to continuously help children who live in isolated areas and be an efficient channel of help for other like-minded individuals and group who want to help give these students better education. We will commemorate this by revisiting the young agtas of Aurora, who study at the Sentrong Paaralan ng mga Agta located at Barangay Cozo, Casiguran, Aurora. Last May, 2008, our group had the privilege of meeting these student and we were able to share with them donations including school supplies, generator set, television and DVD player. On December 10, we will come back bringing some school supplies, clothing materials, food items and other items they may need.

Sentrong Paaralan ng mga Agta is about an hour hike from the barangay center, which is about 12 hours away from Manila. The school does not use the same system we are used to due to limited resources, plus the fact that these students are not used to "formal" education. The agtas are generally nomadic people. We were able to bring them some useful materials last 2008 but most of them were either consumed or ravaged by a fire.

We appeal again for your generosity. You can help us bring Christmas cheers to the young agtas by donating cash or other useful materials (school supplies, sporting equipment, food items, etc.), helping us with the transportation requirements of the project or by telling your friends about TREK. For information, please log on to

    Very truly yours,

    Mark Fer Castillo

So you want a Race Kit?

    Image: graur razvan ionut /
    Ito yung legal, try mo...

    1. Mag-ipon at mag-register (kaso, magastos ka kaya wala ka pang-bayad)

    3. Magpa-sponsor (ang taray!!!)

Kaso, kung desperado. Di kita kukunsintihin. Ika nga, "Try at your own risk".

    Image: chanpipat /

Pero seriously... if wala talaga pang-register. Marami naman kalsadang pwedeng libreng takbuhan.

    Bakit Why?!?

"Don't take the first step, if you're planning to cheat... " - Anonymous

May naabutan ako dalawang mama.

At sumenyas sya ng "thumbs-up".
