I'm Back!!!!
Not that I've been gone.
I was browsing through my posts and parang medyo naging serysoso ata ang mga naging posts ko for a long time. Compared to my first posts na parang wala lang, parang kwentuhan lang ng magkakaibigan na ako lang ang dumadaldal. Bwehehehe...
At meron lang nag-pakilala sa akin na, "eto ser, si rod, comedy ang blog nito". Hmnnn... oo nga ano, "comedy" dati ang blog ko. Bakit ba naging serious...
Siguro I'm trying too much to please my supposedly target readers (mga seryosong mananakbo). But then again, naging komedi, naging korni, sumubok maging seryoso na naging korning seryoso... eh wala pa din naman ata bumabasa ng aking mga posts (maliban lang sa mga kaibigan ko *aylabyuol!)
Eniweys.... Basta ang alam ko, I'm back! Mahirap ang serious masyado! Nakaka-stress lalo!!! Bihira na nga makatakbo, tapos seryoso pa???
Tara FUN RUN tayo! Fun Run tayo ng 50K!!! woot!!!

Are you all in? adidas launches registration for ALL24
adidas brings you Philippines’ first epic 24-hour celebration of passion
adidas brings you Philippines’ first epic 24-hour celebration of passion
MANILA, Philippines, April 8, 2011 – Hot on the heels of the launch of its milestone global brand campaign entitled “adidas is all in”, adidas is kick-starting the summer with an epic 24 hour-long celebration of sport, street, and style that is now officially open for registration for interested participants and adidas aficionados.
Titled ALL24, the 24-hour event is part of adidas’ latest groundbreaking campaign, which celebrates the all-embracing passion for the love of the game. To go ‘all-in’ – as an athlete, an artiste, and even as a supporter—ALL24 has been organized as a platform to encourage people to come and celebrate their passion in the grandest scale imaginable, whether it may be sport, music, dance, fashion or art!
Taking place in six cities across the region including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and the Philippines, ALL24 will be held at the hippest youth hub in the metro, Eastwood City, Libis on May 14, from 10pm to 10pm the next day.
To keep the energy flowing, popular DJs will be spinning their unique brand of hip-hop, house, and electro beats. Round the clock, top athletes, football stars, professional runners and skateboarders, graffiti artist groups, famous dance crews and celebrity dancers, and the movers and shakers of the fashion industry will be showcasing their love and support for adidas. The adidas family will not only showcase their talents, but will also bond and support young hopefuls as they go all in at ALL24.
adidas is calling on all interested participants to join in on the various activities. Fusing the worlds of sports, music, and fashion, adidas invites young individuals to go all in, whether their passion is basketball, football, running, skateboarding, graffiti, dance or fashion. The ALL24 event is designed to showcase adidas’ distinctive presence across different sports, cultures and lifestyles.
Sports categories
During the 24-hour event, individuals interested in basketball can participate in free-throw and 3-point shootouts, while groups of 3 can join the 3-on-3 competition, with the longest surviving team winning the top prize. For football, players can engage in the 5-on-5 competition—again, with the longest surviving team taking the top prize. Runners, on the other hand, will get their adrenaline pumping for a one-of-a-kind relay race.
Street categories
Skateboarders of all skill levels are encouraged to come down and celebrate their love of the sport. For the contest, skateboarders will need to exhibit their best tricks and stunts in order to be number one. In celebration of street style, graffiti artists are called on to register and create on-the-spot masterpieces in designated areas of the ALL24 event. Dancers get the opportunity to show off their skills whether with their crew in the street dance challenge or on their own in the B-boy/B-girl battle.
Style category
Finally, up-and-coming fashion designers are encouraged to participate in a fashion design competition to display their creativity around the theme of “Passion- The Things that Excite You the Most”. Incorporating the iconic adidas 3-stripes, each piece should celebrate individuality, whether it’s casual contemporary, street sleek or spory chic. The competition will be judged by a panel of well-known industry players and the top creations will make their way to the catwalk on the finale.
How to join
Interested participants can log on to www.adidasall24.com. Competitions are open to 14-25 year-old participants. A screening process will be conducted and a minimal joining fee of P240 is required per participant. Competition winners will take home adidas products and cash as prizes. Participants and even supporters at the actual event automatically have a chance to win adidas products, limited edition ALL24 memorabilia, and other amazing freebies.
For supporters and spectators, get 2 tickets for every purchase of adidas products worth P2,400 from April 8 to May 15. adidas will also hold a special 24% discount on any purchase from May 13-15. Visit select stores of adidas, adidas Neo, Olympic World, Planet Sports, Proline, RUNNR, Sportshouse, Sports Central, The Athlete's Foot, Toby's, and Urban Athletics nationwide.

frontRUNNER Magazine - The Valley Trail Challenge
I am a newbie in the world of ultra-marathons... after finishing 4 ultra distance races and dnf'd on the 1st 100 miler in the country. I think it's about time to rest my knees from the pounding of the cement... And that is why I'm going to try the trail...
The Valley Trail Challenge @ Nuvali, Sta Rosa, Laguna
You are cordially invited by frontRUNNER Magazine, Ang Pambansang Babasahin ng Mananakbong Pilipino, to the The Valley Trail Challenge that will be held on June 18, 2011 at Nuvali, Sta Rosa, Laguna.
For those who have done the marathon, don’t you think it’s time to test your feet for an ultra marathon? And for those who simply love the outdoors, a 25-kilometer category awaits you.
The route is generally runner-friendly, having a rolling but mostly flat terrain(single and double track dirt roads), and only around 5% will consist of concrete roads. This route offers reprieve from constant pounding on hard surfaces. One loop will consist of 25 kilometers with the start and finish lines situated at the vicinity of the Evolving Center. The course will bring runners to the peripheries of the NUVALI complex which will offer participants majestic views that only nature and NUVALI can offer.
And in the true tradition of trail and ultra running, this race will be a no frills, all thrills race where runners, despite the presence of three aid stations (at Kilometers 9, 20 and 25 – first aid, water and electrolyte drinks), are strongly advised to be self-contained and sufficient, meaning, runners are required to carry their own hydration kits and nutrition supplies. Additionally, it is also recommended that they bring their own first aid kit (cotton balls, antiseptic solution, band aid strips and anti-biotic ointment).
A final briefing and race packet distribution shall be held on June 14, 2011, 6pm at ROX, Bonifacio High Street.
Experience the peace and serenity of your run without the distractions of pre and post-race fanfare.
We hope to see you share the trails with us.
Bring your cameras too!
RAIN or SHINE.

101 SWIM BIKE RUN - The Multisport Series
Year 2008... who would have thought that from running a 10K non-stop on a treadmill, to joining 5K races after and a leap of faith 21K in 2009 would eventually lead me to the crazy-a$$ world of ultra-running by 2010?
And now 2011, another insane sport is knocking on my medulla oblongata (*nosebleed*). And it's not just 1... not 2... but 3 sports! Okay sige na nga... it's a MULTISPORT. As in SWIM, BIKE, RUN!
I'm confident with my BIKE and RUN skills. But with SWIM? Yikes!!! It's not that I can't SWIM. I CAN! But alone!
Well, I guess my fear will be conquered once I attend the...
Look at the class schedule below.
See the list of coaches? Asteeg di ba?
Interested? Want to join?
I still have a problem... I don't have a road or tri bike. And it's not in my list of things to buy anytime soon.
Hope the bikegods of triathlon hears me and drop me one. Okay na kahit hindi carbon. x_X

MERRELL Barefoot
I was recently invited at the MERRELL Barefoot Launch at Market! Market! Although I wasn't able to try one, I think it has a lot of potential.
Below is the article given to those who attended the launch...
There’s a new sports craze that has running magazines, websites, and bloggers talking – barefoot or minimalist running.
Barefoot running is not as far-fetched as it sounds. This running technique is so effective that it has enthusiasts and serious athletes trying out “barefoot” or “barely there” running shoes.
This type of footwear allows people to get back outside and reconnect with nature every step of the way. Its lightweight yet protective design allows wearers to get a feel of their surroundings and develop better flexibility, balance, and awareness. No more waiting in line at the gym or fancy equipment for a day of fun and adventure outdoors.
Merrell’s Barefoot collection is comfortable enough to let you run and play outside with the kids, cruise the farmer’s market, or complete an urban road race. Merrell also partnered with Vibram to ensure that each Barefoot shoe model is durable and gives that unique feeling of being almost barefoot.
Unlike other minimalist footwear styles, the Merrell Barefoot collection is super lightweight, flexible, low profile, beneficial, and stylish. Its ergonomic designs also strengthens feet and legs, realigns posture, and stimulates the senses. All of these benefits in one pair of shoes.
Go on a Merrell Barefoot adventure now. Try the Merrell Barefoot collection at Merrell concept stores and outlets nationwide.
In 1960 Abebe Bikila was a late addition to the Ethiopian Olympic team, set to run the marathon. When he didn’t like the way his shoes fit before the race, he decided to scrap them and race barefoot, the way he had trained. Two hours and fifteen minutes later, he was Olympic champion, the hero of a nation and the first big name in barefoot running.
Almost 50 years later, Christopher McDougall publishes Born to Run, a book on the Tarahumara tribe in the remote mountains of Mexico and the unique yet efficient barefoot running style. Slowly, people started notice barefoot running and its benefits.
With these in mind, Merrell partnered with Vibram® to produce an exclusive Barefoot Collection for the outdoor category. Minimalist, lightweight, versatile, and efficient, the Merrell Barefoot Collection allows feet to grip authentic natural surfaces and lead sports enthusiasts into their preferred outdoor activities.
This new footwear style helps create a more natural stride because it encourages a forward momentum and mid-foot landing. It also provides a lower impact and an aligned and effortless gait. The Merrell Barefoot Collection is designed to stimulate different muscles, strengthen the core, and improve agility.
Walking, running or going around barefoot is usually a unique and pleasurable experience for everyone. People love being barefoot because it creates a connection with nature and what they’re doing. But since most people aren’t willing to go to work, hike a trail, or ride a bike completely shoe-less (not to mention most restaurants and shops won’t let you completely barefoot), this new shoe styles are ideal for people who are looking for that connection.
The Barefoot Collection for men includes the Trail Glove, True Glove, and Tough Glove. All three styles are extremely lightweight and versatile and can take you from the trail to walking around town.
Ladies will take a liking for the Merrell Pace Glove, Power Glove, and Pure Glove. All shoe models follow the Merrell’s credo “Performance Made Beautiful,” because they fit well and look good at the same time.
Try the Merrell Barefoot Collection now at Merrell concept stores and all leading department stores. Go outdoors with the Merrell Barefoot!

Good Housekeeping Family Fun Run!
Family bonding has never been this fun! Parents, children and even dogs enjoyed the first-ever Good Housekeeping Family Fun Run that happened last April 3, Sunday at the Manila Ocean Park.
Hundreds of families–including pet dogs!—participated in the different race categories. Kids enjoyed the 100-meter dash, while pet lovers teamed up with their dogs for the 1k run with obstacles. Parents ran with their kids in the 3k run and helped each other with the fun obstacles. Kids and adults alike also joined the 5k open run. Finishers enjoyed the different booths at the venue, like a pet-grooming station for dogs, inflatable and face painting for kids, photobooth for the whole family, and many more fun activities at the event.
Dog lovers were also in for a treat as Summit Media launched its first-ever publication dedicated to man’s best friend, Good Dog. A quarterly publication featuring everything you need to know about owning a dog, Good Dog is bundled with the April issue of Good Housekeeping. Every time Good Dog is bundled with Good Housekeeping (months of April, July, October, and December), the magazine will be priced at P125.
Hosted by RX 93.1 deejay Chico Garcia, the Good Housekeeping Family Fun Run was co-presented by Sangobion, made possible by major sponsors Robinsons Department Store and Sarangani Bay Bangus, official food sponsor Bow Wow by Handyman, official water sponsor GE Water, official venue sponsor Manila Ocean Park, official time sponsor Timex, and minor sponsors 3M, Aeromed, Curves, Farlin, Holy Seat, iPaw, Lottle, Nail-a-holics, Pocari Sweat and Red Ribbon. Special thanks to media partners Magic 89.9 and RX 93.1.
The April issue of Good Housekeeping features Christine Bersola-Babao on the cover and comes with your copy of the maiden issue of Good Dog. Both are available in newsstands, bookstores, and supermarkets nationwide for only P125.

Efficient!
After finishing the fun run last Saturday and a quick breakfast, the team (well at least 4 of us + a potential member) decided to drop by at this specialty running store.
It was our first time to go there. And we decided not to tell that we are part of Team Boring, as we don't want any special treatment (as if meron ganon).
So after looking at the gears, a conversation with the person manning (PM) the store and one of the core (C) ensued. And it goes a little something like this...

RR: ???
C: ano'ng ibig sabihin ng efficient?
RR: (good follow-up question)
PM: efficient, yung naka 42 na. matagal na natakbo.
RR: (sobrang efficient pala kami? ayos!)
-----------------------------------------------
And all along I thought that to be an efficient runner, one should have good:
(taken from http://www.usatriathlon.org/news/2008/11/26/tri-training-tips-five-ways-to-become-a-more-efficient-runner/8139)
1. Stride length and stride rate
The most common inefficiency in the average runner is over striding. This is typically visible by a heavy heel strike and a low stride rate. The target stride rate for most age group runners is between 88-90 foot strikes per minute (how many times one foot hits the ground per minute). By targeting this rate, (or higher) athletes will often shorten their stride to become more efficient and lessen strain on their joints.
2. Foot strike
Foot strike is very closely related to stride length and rate. The optimal foot strike is mid foot or in some cases forefoot. A heel strike is the runner’s way of putting on the brakes. This is also very hard on hip and knee joints.
3. Arm movement
Arms are an essential part of running. They provide balance and often, additional power. Keep arms close to the body, elbows bent about 90 degrees, and do not cross the center line of the body. Keep movements “quit” and relaxed.
4. Body position
Forward lean or lack thereof can play a major part in efficiency. The best general thought to have while focusing on body position is: "run tall.” This means run with your head high, looking 15-30 feet in front of you. Run erect with your shoulders back and arms at your side. (remember #3) A slight forward lean of about 5-6 degrees is often optimal to assist in proper foot strike and cadence.
5. Shoes
Yes, shoes! This is one of the most often overlooked yet essential aspects of running well. Many foot shapes, gait types, and stride techniques require many different types of shoes. Buy your shoes from a reputable running specific store that will analyze your foot along with your run technique to offer an optimum shoe.

Okay... now let's talk about in being an efficient sales person.
I have been exposed in sales for almost all my life.
